Health screening preparation: before your visit

Good health screening preparation gives more accurate results and a smoother visit.

Health screening fasting timeline: light dinner, plain water overnight, morning blood test, then eat and take medicines
Choose and book

Pick a package or ask us to help you choose. Booking ahead shortens your wait; walk-ins are welcome during opening hours.

Fast for 8–10 hours

Have a light dinner, then nothing to eat or drink except plain water until your blood test. Morning appointments are easiest.

Medicines

Take your usual blood pressure, heart and thyroid medicines with water. If you take diabetes tablets or insulin, do not take them while fasting — bring them and take them with your meal after the blood test, unless your doctor has advised otherwise.

Supplements

Stop biotin (vitamin B7) and hair-skin-nail supplements 2–3 days before, as they can upset thyroid and hormone results. Tell us about any blood thinners.

Women

Book a Pap smear when you are not having your period. Tell us if you are or might be pregnant. For a pelvic ultrasound, come with a comfortably full bladder.

Feeling unwell?

If you have a fever, flu or are recovering from an infection, consider rescheduling — illness can temporarily change some results.

What to bring

IC or passport, previous reports, your medicines or a list, glasses or hearing aids, and a small snack for after the blood test.

ECG, ultrasound, Pap smear or other tests in your package are done during the same visit where possible.

Health screening preparation FAQ

Quick answers to common health screening preparation questions from our patients in Kepong.

How long should I fast before a health screening?

Fast for 8–10 hours before your blood test. Health screening fasting is simple: have a light dinner, then only plain water until your blood is taken. This gives reliable blood sugar and triglyceride results. Not sure if your package needs fasting? WhatsApp us before your visit.

Can I drink water or coffee while fasting?

Plain water is fine and makes the blood test easier. Avoid coffee, tea, juice, milk and chewing gum until your blood is taken — even without sugar, they can affect your results.

Should I take my usual medicines before the test?

Yes, take blood pressure, heart and thyroid medicines with water as usual. Do not take diabetes tablets or insulin while fasting — bring them and take them with your meal after the blood test, unless your doctor has advised otherwise. Tell us if you take blood thinners.

What to bring for health screening?

Bring your IC or passport, previous screening or lab reports, your medicines or a list of them, glasses or hearing aids if you use them, and a small snack for after the blood test. Wear loose, short-sleeved clothing.

Can I do a health screening during my period?

Blood tests, ECG and most scans can go ahead. Book your Pap smear for a day when you are not having your period, and let us know, as menstrual blood can affect the urine test.

Should I postpone if I am unwell?

If you have a fever, flu or a recent infection, consider rescheduling until you have recovered — illness can temporarily change blood counts, inflammation markers and blood sugar. WhatsApp us and we will help you pick a new date.

How long does the visit take, and when are results ready?

Most visits are completed in one morning. Most results are ready in 24–48 hours, and your doctor goes through each one with you and agrees a follow-up plan.

Why does health screening preparation matter?

Small things can change your results. A meal raises blood sugar and triglycerides, biotin supplements can upset thyroid tests, and heavy exercise or alcohol can affect muscle, liver and kidney results. Good health screening preparation means fewer repeat tests and clearer answers.
